Figure 1: Conversion of input geometry into relaxed mesh
As mentioned above, our goal is to create a good mesh in the preprocess stage. Figure 1 shows mesh creation process from CAD geometry to initial mesh and later smoothing.
With physics-based meshing, we use as original mesh in an initial state and we deform it by applying linear constraints and minimizing the energy. The resulting mesh then simulates the behavior of an elastic material with internal pressure. Initial node position and the specification of constraints can be obtained by any method, including direct manipulation of lengths and angles.
